About Mrs. Tims

Announcement: Mr. Tims will be joining my studio teaching saxophone lessons! Nothing has changed on our end, I'm just adding Mr. Tims to our website so he can create his own calendar for saxophone lessons. Please join me in welcoming him to My Music Staff!

Hello and welcome to Mrs. Tims' Clarinet Studio! A Crestview native, Savannah Tims, clarinetist, delights audiences with her rich sound and musical interpretations. Appearing locally and internationally, Savannah has performed with many orchestras, ensembles, and chamber groups.

As a performer, Savannah was principal clarinetist of the Florida All-State Band and Orchestra. She performed a debut concert in the renowned Carnegie Hall and has performed in the University of Southern Mississippi Wind Ensemble and two seasons in the Symphony Orchestra, led by Drs. Catherine Rand and Michael Miles. In 2018, Savannah performed a world premiere of Trio for Two Friends by Lenia Bolano at the International Music by Women Festival in Columbus, Mississippi. She was also chosen as a recipient for the University of Southern Mississippi Concerto Competition, where she performed Artie Shaw's Concerto for Clarinet with a jazz orchestra. Her repertoire ranges from traditional Mozart and Weber, to the roller coaster thrills and eclectic style of Scott McAllister. Savannah has performed in masterclasses with Anthony McGill, Principal Clarinetist of the New York Philharmonic; Dr. Bil Jackson, Professor of Clarinet at Vanderbilt University; Dr. Julia Heinen, Professor of Music at California State University, Northridge; and Dr. Victor Chavez, Assistant Professor of Clarinet at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

An avid traveler, Savannah has performed in Carnegie Hall, on the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier in New York City, at the 2017 College Band Director's National Association, and in the 123rd Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. In the summer of 2017, Savannah studied abroad in Vienna, Austria where she researched the music history of the First and Second Viennese School. During her visit, she toured Haydn's house, Beethoven's many homes, the Vienna State Opera House, and the Hapsburg Palaces. Mrs. Tims received her Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Clarinet Performance degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2019 and 2021, respectively. She has primarily studied under Dr. Jacqueline McIlwain. Mrs. Tims' previous teachers include Nancy Saleeby and Jenese Harvey. As a pedagogue, Savannah holds her K-12 Florida Music Education Teaching License and taught elementary music for two years and middle school through college level clarinet in Mississippi. She currently is the CEO and founder of a private studio in the Florida panhandle. Many of her previous students made the Mississippi Lions' All-State, Florida All-State, and Santa Rosa & Escambia All-County bands. She has also taught masterclasses on campus at the University of Southern Mississippi.
